Aerial Medicine

With 15 years studying and treating aerial injuries, Vecsi Physical Therapy understands the distinct physical demands of circus arts. Whether you’re a professional performer or dedicated student, aerial disciplines like silks, lyra, rope, straps, and pole place extraordinary demands on your body that require specialized understanding and treatment. Every aerial artist’s body tells a different story. Through detailed biomechanical assessment and marrying your skill set with your individual anatomy and fitness goals, I identify the specific muscle imbalances and movement dysfunctions that contribute to your injury. My 60-minute, 1-on-1 treatment sessions combine manual therapy with targeted strengthening to address the root cause - not just the symptoms.

Having married an aerial artist instructor, I understand firsthand the unique skeletal requirements and common strains this demanding art form places on the body. Riding shotgun in her journey from beginner student to instructor, I learned what’s required of this fine art and at every stage of development. I assisted in her programming of biomechanically sound exercises and crafted preventative strength plans. This, along with decades of sports rehab experience, allows me to tailor the rehab to get you back to performing stronger and more resiliently.

Meet Your Therapist

Robert Vecsi, MS PT, CSCS brings over 25 years of hands-on sports and orthopedic experience to every patient interaction. After earning his Master of Physical Therapy degree with highest academic honors from the College of Staten Island in 2000, Robert immediately specialized in orthopedic care with an emphasis in manual therapy. Robert's expertise spans a wide range of orthopedic injuries, with particular specialization in athletic rehabilitation and sports performance enhancement,. His post-graduate training at the University of St. Augustine focused on spinal assessment and manipulation, while his certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association enhances his ability to help patients return to their active lifestyles.

As an avid cyclist, runner, and cross trainer himself, Robert brings both professional expertise and personal understanding to every treatment session. His commitment to spending a full 60 minutes of one-on-one time with each patient ensures you receive not just treatment, but education, support, and the personalized attention that leads to lasting results.
